"As a young boy, I always helped my dad in his workshop. When I got married in 1958 I always lived in an apartment where I could use the basement as a workshop. When I purchased my first home it had a nice big garage. I decided to purchase woodworking tools and made all the bedroom furniture for my four children. I even made bunk beds for some of my family. In Sarnia, I had a 2  ½ car garage which became my workshop. I made all kinds of furniture, beer coolers, picnic tables, etc. As my wife and I got older, we decided to sell the house and move to the Sandy Lane apartments. After I had moved in, I found out that there was a workshop in the underground parking area. That is when my woodwork turned into a hobby and I created a lot of beautiful things." - Bernie Lajoie
